What’s Haunting You? The Different Types of Haunting

Residual Activity

A residual haunting is a playback of a past event. Residual hauntings can be a recording of past stressful, traumatic, and even positive events. There aren’t spirits involved just “recordings” of the event. This type of haunting is not dangerous, and can be witnessed without fear.

Signs of Residual Activity

Signs similar to an “intellectual haunting”

No interactions between spirit and the living

Doors opening and closing

Sounds (footsteps, breathing, other odd repetitive sounds)

Why Won’t the Ghosts Go Away

Why won’t ghost go away? That’s an excellent question. But the only way to answer that question is to ask the ghost or to become a ghost and find out first hand. If you ask 100 different paranormal investigators or ghost hunters, you will get at least 100 different answers as to why ghost won’t go away.

First we need to understand the theories behind ghost and why they remain and why some of them are never seen or heard from again.

Why Hunt Ghosts?

I think one of the most common questions I get through my sites (My Ghost Gear and Ghost Hunter Adventures) is why ghosts?

That’s an excellent question and it’s not a short answer. The answer to this question is very complex and covers a lot of different theories and trying to find answers about the unknown. The unknown, as most any paranormal investigator will tell you most everything about the dead and the ghost, spirits and the paranormal are still unknown even though there are many theories that cover a lot of the aspects of the paranormal. Granted some prove these theories provide the evidence needed to prove ghost and spirits roam the earth among humans and some claim the theories are only “make believe” to try to prove that ghosts exist. Reasons Why People Should Not Be Afraid of Ghosts

People fear the spirit world and unfamiliar things such as spirits, ghosts and unexpected sounds. Would you be terrified if confronted by an apparition?

Millions of people would answer yes to this question and to the possibility of something prancing out at them in the still darkness, but is this ghost representation accurate?

We have all heard the many stories of different encounters like the cold breeze that we feel across our neck when there are no windows opened in the house, or ghost-like apparitions either in photos or in person. Other episodes may include Ouija Board experiences when there is movement and spelling without any help on its own from possible ghosts, rocking chairs that rock with no one in them, along with numerous other spiritual encounters. Ghosts That Interact With You

Interactive ghosts are so called because they always purposely make their presence known to people. They communicate with the physical world by sending messages, and often the spirit is seen only by the recipient of the message.

The ghost is usually well known to the person – either a relative or a friend – and might predict some imminent news, like a birth or a death. Such a message is relayed by the ghost actually speaking to the recipient, or by some other method such as making some kind of noise. Continue reading →
